Literacy Support

Looking for friendly, supportive literacy help?

Ellie Jones, Literacy Outreach Coordinator, is offering free literacy support by appointment or drop-in at the Burns Lake Public Library from 2-5pm twice a month on Fridays:
March 6 & 20
April 10 & 24
May 8 & 22
June 5 & 19

Ellie trained at the Learning Differences Centre of BC to be certified as a Level 1 Orton-Gillingham Structured Literacy Tutor. She offers evidence-based, structured literacy support for children, including learners who need extra help with reading, spelling, and writing. The Orton-Gillingham method teaches students to read and write through a multi-sensory, systematic, cumulative, fun approach.

Ellie also supports adults with paperwork, applications, forms, and building everyday literacy skills in a respectful, judgment-free setting.

With a kind and welcoming approach, Ellie creates a safe, encouraging space where learners can build skills and confidence step by step. Sessions are personalized, practical, and designed around each person’s needs and goals.
